Acting Teacher

Fairfield Performing Arts Studio (FPAS) is seeking an energetic, creative improv instructor to lead two class sections this season: one for grades 3–5 and one for grades 6–10. This is a fantastic opportunity for a performer or teaching artist who loves helping young people build confidence, quick thinking, and collaborative skills through the fundamentals of improvisational theatre.

Class Details

Grades 3–5: 1-hour class, focused on foundational improv games, imagination-building, and ensemble play in a fun, low-pressure environment
Grades 6–10: 1 hour 15-minute class, with more advanced scene work, character development, and long-form improv concepts appropriate for older students

Responsibilities

Plan and lead weekly age-appropriate improv curriculum for both class sections
Create a supportive, high-energy classroom environment that encourages risk-taking and creativity
Track student progress and communicate with FPAS leadership regarding class needs
Collaborate with FPAS staff on scheduling, studio policies, and any culminating student showcases
Maintain classroom management appropriate to each age group

Qualifications

Experience performing and/or teaching improv (improv troupe, theatre background, or preferred formal training)
Prior experience working with children and/or teens in an educational or theatrical setting
Strong communication and classroom management skills
Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working independently
CT background check/clearance required

Location: Fairfield Performing Arts Studio, 1899 Bronson Road, Fairfield, CT
Schedule: Tuesday Sept. 8-Dec 9 - 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm (no class on Oct. 13 & Nov. 24)
Compensation: $40–$65/hour, commensurate with experience
