Company Description Derby Children's Theatre is looking to hire an Acting Teacher responsible for teaching weekly Improv and Teen Acting classes with a possibility for more classes.
Derby Children's Theatre (DCT) is a performing arts organization based at 838 N Baltimore Ave in Derby, Kansas, United States. The theatre focuses on engaging children and young people in drama, acting, and stage performance in a supportive, creative environment.
Day-to-day tasks include planning and delivering engaging lessons, teaching acting techniques, voice and movement, and guiding students through scene work and improvisation. The role is only for teaching classes at this time, but has the potential to expand to performances for the right person.
Candidates should possess strong Teaching and Training skills, with experience instructing children or youth in acting or performing arts.Candidates should possess solid Lesson Planning and Education skills, including designing age-appropriate curricula and structured class activities.Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills, with the ability to engage young learners, collaborate with colleagues, and interact professionally with parents and guardians.Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, Performing Arts, Education, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in acting and teaching preferred.Demonstrated experience in theatre production or performance, such as directing, stage management, or acting in live theatre.Ability to create an inclusive, positive, and safe learning environment, with strong classroom management and youth mentorship skills.Availability to commit to consistant, weekly class times as scheduled.
