Job Summary:Standardized Patients (SPs) at Upstate Medical University’s Syracuse Campus are individuals from the community who are paid to help train future healthcare providers. No medical background is needed. SPs are trained to accurately portray patients by following a case script, answering questions, and allowing students to perform basic, non-invasive physical exams while wearing a hospital gown over undergarments. SPs support student learning by providing verbal and written feedback, completing computerized checklists, and participating in video-recorded sessions used only for educational purposes. Minimum Qualifications:At least 17 years old and authorized to work in the U.S.Live in the Syracuse, NY area and have reliable transportationAble to read, write, and speak English clearlyBasic computer and email proficiencyComfortable being examined, videotaped (educational use only), and giving feedbackAble to memorize and realistically portray assigned patient casesWilling to accept coaching and remain in character during simulationsMaintain strict confidentialityPreferred Qualifications:Experience in acting, education, or customer service is a plusWork Days:Monday - Friday Days (4-6 hour shifts)
