Jack’s Pumpkin Pop-Up is hiring an outgoing actor, comedian, improv performer or live event entertainer for our seasonal fall team at our Goose Island location:

1265 W LeMoyne St.

This is a paid, seasonal performance role for someone who loves improv, comedy, audience interaction and live entertainment.

IMPORTANT ROLE INFORMATION

As part of the Tomato Toss attraction, the performer stands behind a Tomato Toss board with their head positioned through an opening while wearing required protective face/head gear.

Guests take turns throwing tomatoes toward the performer as part of the game.

Applicants must be comfortable with this physical element of the role before applying.

Your job is to bring the attraction to life through quick-witted banter, playful heckling and crowd interaction.

Funny is important. Charming is everything.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Tomato Toss performer is responsible for keeping the attraction energetic, entertaining and guest-ready throughout the event.

Responsibilities include:

Perform as the live heckler for Tomato Toss attraction.

Stand behind the Tomato Toss board with your head positioned through the designated opening.

Wear all required protective face/head equipment while participating in the attraction.

Engage guests with quick, playful banter.

Improvise and react to different personalities and crowds.

Encourage guest participation and help draw attention to the attraction.

Maintain an entertaining character throughout your shift.

Keep humor playful and appropriate without making guests uncomfortable.

Follow all attraction operating and safety procedures.

Communicate clearly with managers and other event team members.

Help keep the attraction organized and guest-ready.

Assist in other event areas when operationally necessary.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Acting, improv, comedy, Renaissance faire or other interactive/live performance experience is preferred but not required.

We are especially looking for people who:

Are outgoing, confident and naturally entertaining.

Are quick on their feet and comfortable improvising.

Are great at interacting with guests and drawing in a crowd.

Can be clever and funny without being cruel.

Are comfortable having tomatoes thrown toward their protected head/face as part of the performance.

Are comfortable performing with their head positioned through the opening in the Tomato Toss board.

Are comfortable wearing required protective equipment.

Are comfortable getting a little messy during the performance.

Can maintain character and energy throughout a shift.

Show up on time and ready to work.

Communicate clearly with other team members and supervisors.

Are comfortable working in an active outdoor event environment.

Have flexible seasonal availability, particularly evenings and weekends.

Experience in acting, improv, stand-up comedy, Renaissance fairs, haunted attractions, festivals, live events or interactive entertainment is a plus.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must be comfortable participating in the physical setup of the Tomato Toss attraction as described above.

All performers must follow Jack’s Pumpkin Pop-Up safety procedures and wear the required protective equipment while performing.

Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors and around large crowds.

Reliable transportation to the Goose Island location is strongly preferred.

COMPENSATION

$25.00 per hour
