About the project: Blackberry Pie is an independent dramatic short film set in East Austin. The story follows Eugene, a young Black baker carrying a freshly baked blackberry pie through the neighborhood he has called home his entire life. As he walks, memories, music, and the changing landscape of East Austin reveal a story about family, displacement, community, and what it means to remain connected to a place that is rapidly changing around you. Inspired by the history of East Austin and the experiences of communities affected by displacement, the film seeks to preserve stories that are too often forgotten.RolesEUGENE (LEAD) - Male, 18-30 years old, African-American.
