Actors Wanted for Dark Comedy The Lyons Auditions

Fever Dream Repertory is looking for non-union actors for its November production of Nicky Silver's dark comedy The Lyons. Auditions will be held at the Skinner Studio of Plays & Players, 1714 Delancey, 3rdFloor, on Tuesday August 11 and Thursday August 13 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Callbacks are by invitation only and will be held at Plays and Players on Sunday, August 16 beginning at 6:30 p.m. A stipend will be paid at the end of the production.

Available roles are:

BEN LYONS (late 70s) A dying man. Although he is at the end of his life, he is not without energy

LISA (30s) The Lyons' daughter. A divorced mother of two and a recovering alcoholic

CURTIS (30s) The Lyons' son. Agay short story writer with a boyfriend no one in the family has ever met.

A NURSE (40s)

BRIAN (27 to 35) A very attractive real estate broker.

The role of RITA, Ben's wife, has been cast.

Rehearsals will be in Philadelphia beginning right after Labor Day and performances will be between November 6 and November 15 at the Skinner Studio.

For your audition, please prepare a 1-2 minute contemporary comedic monologue of your choice.

In this savagely funny dark comedy, playwright Nicky Silver invites you to meet the Lyons, a hilariously dysfunctional Jewish family. Patriarch Ben is dying of cancer in a hospital room. His wife, Rita, is already making plans to redecorate their house. Their two children are Lisa, a divorced mother of two and a recovering alcoholic, and Curtis, a gay short story writer with a boyfriend no one in the family has ever met. When they all collide together as they wait for Ben to die, each member of the family finds their own ways to search for human connection.
