Banana Bo is a 10-minute student short being produced as part of the Advanced Narrative Film course at the University of Texas at Austin taught by award-winning independent filmmaker Miguel Alvarez. A dark satirical film that follows a Chinese international student who goes to extreme lengths to join a historically white fraternity. Unaware of how Greek life within American universities works he naively tries to belong with a group of men who manipulate and treat him as a clown. This film blends absurd situations with dark societal implications to tell the story of a young Asian man who desperately wants to fit in but is socially "othered" because of his appearance and background.
