Call for Multilingual Actors - "TONGUES" WorkshopTONGUESNew York City, NY 10027DeadlineRollingPostedMar 28, 2024Tongues, a multilingual community performance project, is calling artists and storytellers to join our collaborative workshop to share true-life experiences with ESL (English-as-a-Second-Language) and explore the questions of:How does multilingualism shape who you are?How can we communicate when we don’t share the same language?PROJECT TIMELINE:Starting in April, we’ll be conducting workshops each weekend, where each participant shares their stories about navigating the world as a multilingual person, followed by theatre games inspired by shared stories.After 5 workshop sessions, we plan to present in front of a small group of audience. The presentation will be based on the stories shared throughout the workshops and the collaborative work done by everyone involved.WHAT: A work-in-progress multilingual performance projectWHEN: 5 sessions on the weekends starting the week of April 13. Presentation in MayJoin and build a multilingual story together that voices out the truth of our identity.RequirementsGeneral availability during weekends in April and mid-May.ESL (English-as-a-Second-Language) speakers, or self-identified multilingual speakers.Professional acting background is not required.
