'Checkmate'

Casting "Checkmate," a senior thesis film of Michael Sims, a film and video production student at Grand Valley State University. The project explores themes of identity, fear, and acknowledgment through a dramatic, slow cinema story about self-expression and escape. Inspired by the emotional impact of films that help people feel seen, this project aims to create that same sense of connection for its audience. The finished film will be showcased at the GVSU Student Film Showcase and submitted to regional festivals.
