WTVM-TV became the first television station on the air in Columbus, Georgia, on October 6, 1953. WTVM continues to be the News Leader in the Columbus television market. The DMA stretches across the state line into portions of east Alabama and Auburn University. With a staff of 40+ news professionals, we broadcast more than 9 hours of news each weekday across WTVM (ABC), WXTX (FOX) & WLTZ (NBC).

**Job Summary/Description:**

WTVM-TV is searching for a Chief Meteorologist to lead our team in weather coverage across East Alabama and West Georgia.

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience with both meteorology and leadership. The candidate should be able to confidently prepare and deliver weather forecasts and tell a relatable weather story across newscasts and digital platforms.

The ideal candidate will also feel confident with community outreach-- visiting classrooms to educate young people about meteorology, reporting live from breaking weather locations and other events as needed, as well as participating in other public functions.

Duties/responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

- Analyze weather data and prepare detailed forecasts
- Prepare graphics to support the weather presentation
- Flexible schedule for severe weather scenarios
- Lead team of Meteorologists, guiding them on presentation style and accuracy of forecasts
- Assist with producing and presenting daily "Weather Extra" half-hour digital stream along with producer and other meteorologists
- Work closely with news management on content
- Create and post content for digital platforms & the station's streaming desk

**Qualifications/Requirements:**

- Degree in meteorology
- 5+ years of experience as a broadcast meteorologist
- Strong communication skills & teamwork
- Ability to lead a multi-platform weather team
- Ability to be creative with graphic design and presentation
- Demonstrated ability to forecast weather accurately
- Proficient in digital and social media platforms
- Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record
