This is a renewable position for up to three years, with opportunities to teach undergraduate courses in acting, other performance and theatre studies courses aligned with the candidate's expertise, direct productions, advise students, and participate in departmental initiatives and meetings. Duties and Responsibilities: • Teaching: 12 credit hours per semester, including undergraduate courses in acting and other performance and theatre studies courses • Directing: Producing fully mounted productions each academic year, including a musical and a Shakespeare production • Advising: Mentoring students in performance and production work, and providing guidance on career development and professional growth • Departmental Initiatives: Participating in departmental meetings, committees, and events, and contributing to the development of new programs and initiatives Preferred Qualifications: • MFA or PhD in an appropriate theatre discipline • College-level teaching experience, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels • Experience teaching a multicultural population • Demonstrated commitment to mentorship of young actors • Theatre intimacy training • Experience teaching courses in theatre appreciation, history and script analysis About Us: Salem State University offers a comprehensive curriculum with multiple degree options, including a BA and BFA in Theatre Performance and a new BA in Musical Theatre.
