**About the Role:**

IMAX is seeking a Film Projectionist to support the operation, presentation, and maintenance of IMAX film projection and audio/visual systems. This role is responsible for delivering a high-quality theatrical presentation by operating 15/70 film projection equipment, monitoring picture and sound quality, maintaining film prints, and performing routine technical maintenance.

The Film Projectionist plays an important role in ensuring each presentation meets IMAX quality standards. This position requires strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, reliability, and the ability to identify and respond to projection or equipment issues as they arise. The role also works closely with theatre operations teams to support on-time show starts and communicate any technical or presentation concerns.

**Responsibilities**

* Load and operate IMAX 15/70 film projectors, audio sources, reel units, and related projection equipment.
* Assemble, inspect, handle, and repair film prints as needed.
* Present IMAX films in a clear, clean, and professional manner while maintaining established presentation standards.
* Monitor projection equipment throughout each presentation to ensure proper operation and show quality.
* Verify volume levels, automation, and other presentation settings before each show.
* Continuously monitor the projected image for proper focus, brightness, cleanliness, and overall image quality.
* Monitor film threading, projector light levels, playback units, sound consoles, and other audio systems during presentations.
* Ensure audio remains properly synchronized with the film.
* Remain in the projection booth while film is running to monitor the presentation and respond to technical issues.
* Perform daily and weekly cleaning tasks and maintain projection equipment and work areas according to established procedures.
* Perform routine technical maintenance, including changing lamps, cleaning optics, replacing wiper bars, and other basic service as required.
* Support scheduled preventive maintenance and emergency repairs to help keep projection systems in proper working order.
* Maintain accurate logs documenting film print condition upon receipt, any damage occurring during a run, and condition prior to shipment.
* Monitor the theatre for unauthorized video recording or flash photography and follow established procedures when concerns arise.
* Clearly communicate technical, operational, or presentation issues verbally and in writing to Leads and Managers.
* Provide thorough handoffs to other Projectionists during shift changes.
* Coordinate with Theatre Ushers and Box Office Cashiers to support on-time show starts and communicate delays, technical issues, or other concerns.
* Professionally interact with internal teams and members of the public, answer questions when appropriate, and perform other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**

* Minimum of one year of general experience operating and maintaining IMAX projection and audio/visual equipment.
* Familiarity with audio/visual equipment, including the ability to operate and perform basic service and repair on electrical, electronic, and optical equipment.
* Strong technical aptitude with the ability to identify and respond appropriately to projection, audio, and equipment issues.
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to consistently monitor picture, sound, equipment performance, and overall presentation quality.
* Ability to follow established operating, maintenance, safety, and show-quality procedures.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate issues and shift handoffs.
* Ability to work independently in the projection booth while coordinating effectively with theatre operations and technical teams.
* Punctual and reliable attendance is required.
* Flexibility to work a schedule that may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on theatre operations.
* Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally move 200 pounds or more with the assistance of a mechanical lift.
* Ability to perform work requiring close vision and adjust focus under changing light conditions.

**Hiring Range :**

$59.55 - $72.78 (per hour) Placement within this range depends on a candidate’s experience, skills, internal equity, and regional market factors. Eligible roles may also receive additional non-discretionary compensation such as shift premiums or overtime pay.
