The absolute last thing you need as an artist is the stress of having to find a coworker who's willing to cover a shift for you, or the fear of being fired because you were brave enough to choose the opportunity of a lifetime over your shift at your day job. You'll pick up shifts only on the days you feel like working, and you can call out for auditions up to the minute before your shift starts.
