Laborer ll (Year-Round Seasonal)

Duties may involve assisting or acting as a quot;helperquot; to skilled craft workers (journeyman) in the areas of maintenance, repair and service activities. This position differs from Laborer I in that the Laborer II requires incumbents to have a working knowledge of the basic methods and techniques used in the areas of maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment and grounds. Duties of this position may allow a Laborer II to work independently. Work is performed under immediate supervision. A Laborer II has no supervisory responsibilities./span/ph2Position Duties/h2pspan style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;"Incumbents will be required to perform any tasks of an unskilled nature as deemed necessary by departments/divisions/agencies in city service:/spanbr style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;"span style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;"May act as an assistant to a skilled craft worker (journeyman) Carpenter, Mason, Electrician, Painter, Bricklayer, Plasterer, Glazier, General Mechanic and other skilled trades personnel;/spanbr style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;"span style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;"May serve as a general handyman performing duties, which include but are not limited to the following:/spanbr style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;"span style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;"-repairing windows, doors, floors, walls;/spanbr style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;"span style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;"-cleaning, operating, lubricating and repairing of boilers, pumps, heaters, pipe lines, motors, valves, traps and metering equipment;/spanbr style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;"span style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;"-mixing plaster and concrete;/spanbr style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;"span style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;"-performing necessary repair work on cranes, air compressors, air hoists;/spanbr style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;"span style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;"May assist in laying bricks, plastering walls, finishing concrete, painting etc.
