Emotionally numb due to her grief surrounding the death of her sister. This causes her to push her feelings aside in favor of her greater responsibilities. While caring for her family has been taking priority, caring for them has made her resilient and strong, yet quiet and intuitive. In facing the manifestation of her grief and trauma, she learns to embrace her repressed feelings and simply allow them to exist. The actor must be able to convey intense, repressed emotion through their body language, but eventually be able to express these feelings outwardly once Emily accepts her feelings.
