This film stars two characters. Both are from middle-class or working-class backgrounds. The are very self-conscious and keep to themselves, not sharing a lot with others. They have moved through life a little cautiously so far, avoiding trouble, which they could have found a lot of if they hadn’t been careful. They dress somewhat conservatively and unadventurously, and their movements, though graceful, are plain, not calling attention to themselves.
