SAMANTHA — Female, 20s–early 40s — LEAD An accomplished visual artist who has reached a creative and personal crossroads. Intelligent, funny, thoughtful, and self-aware enough to know something is missing from her life, but not yet brave enough to identify what. Engaged to Paul and approaching the conventional life she once assumed she wanted, Samantha accepts an invitation to an artist’s retreat at the former estate of her favorite childhood author.
