Dirk’s mother is prone to lashing out due to a degraded mental state gained from a life of errors. In actuality, the mother spent her youth having sex and fooling around, only to accidentally get pregnant and be stuck with Dirk. She had to drop out of education and focus on raising her son, but she also projects her young life onto him and blames him for the way her life has shaken up. Seeing Dirk potentially following the same path she did at his age has escalated her abuse, as it serves as a reminder of her regrets. The exercises will cover scenes 25-29.
