Janie is George’s ghost. She plays two parts in the film. One as the voice in George’s head, guiding him through the story and acting as his guardian angel. The other, as her true self, as shown in flashbacks. Janie is a free-spirited 20-year-old who sings lead in a Fleetwood Mac cover band when George meets her in 1979.
