27 years old, 38 weeks pregnant; an ambitious, kind-hearted woman with a strong work ethic who cares about family and simply wants to secure a good future for herself and those she loves. She sees poverty as a roadblock to this and takes on an “any means necessary” approach to it, which means she is a reluctant party to her husband Rudy’s crimes (we don’t see Rudy; we just know he exists and peddles cocaine). She works a job in SEO/marketing and plans to keep up that work despite being a soon-to-be mother. It is implied that Rudy has become one of the roadblocks to her living a good life, and for that, Xochitl is considering leaving him. This and other situations cause her to be isolated and very distrusting of others, so when we first meet her, her guard is high.
