Sally Martin is the 10-16 year old daughter of Silas and Priscilla Martin, and sister to Caleb Martin, who along with her family, gets swept up in the events of the American Revolution in the Carolina Backcountry in the year 1780. After immigrating from Norther Ireland to South Carolina, the family tries to remain apolitical for as long as possible, until the Revolution becomes impossible to ignore.
