Mimi is a young girl out of school for the summer with nothing to do but watch her mysterious next-door neighbor’s comings and goings. Her relationship with her mother is distant to say the least, something she will eventually realize as she gets older. For now though, she occupies her time with whatever fills the long hours of solitude. With a sense of independence unusual for a girl her age, she takes it upon herself to “help” Natty through her depressive episode.
