Casting an African American Male to portray an African American G.I. Soldier during the Vietnam War in the late 60s which was the rise of the black power movement and the start of the funk/soul era. This character is very passionate and fights for what he truly believes in on and off the battlefield. The love he has for his partner blinds him as he deals with the harsh realities of racism and their life together in the real world.
