Taloa is a mid-20s barista who is being heavily affected by the grief over losing her grandmother. She is mixed, Choctaw and White, so losing her Native grandparent has left her feeling lost and unsure where she belongs. When her grandmother was alive, Taloa loved to dance, but she’s abandoning herself and her family in her grief. Everyday feels the same for Taloa, which is to say that everyday feels meh, fine, I guess. • *Director’s note: All mixed Indigenous people are wonderful and valid; however, I can only speak to the lived experience of someone who is Native and White and I don’t think I could rework this script to respectfully and accurately capture the extra nuance that comes with other BIPOC identities.
