A stagnant young man who is in every practical sense is lost in life, apathetically drifting from day to day. He can appear quiet and shy but when comfortable has a lot to say. Jack has subtle hints of substance abuse problems (i.e smoking, drinking and nicotine) and as the film goes on he becomes more accepting of this lifestyle through being around his father.
