A very well liked Belfast native and hard-working, he rose to prominence within his family’s Shipbuilding firm, Harland and Wolff. Despite the Olympic making great headway in its success in 1911, Andrews took notes for further improvement on the building of ships. Despite the general beliefs that both the Olympic and Titanic were unsinkable, he was the one who determined that the Titanic would sink after striking the iceberg. He demanded that the passengers abandon ship.
