Stage Voices Productions presents a new play Little Jewel by Bob Shuman, based on Shakespeare’s The Two Gentlemen of Verona. It will be presented as part of the new play festival at the Theater for the New City, 155 1st Ave, New York City in late August and early September featuring seven actors. Little Jewel is a two act play about what goes on between a milkmaid, a character never seen but mentioned many times in The Two Gentlemen of Verona, and several characters from that Shakespeare play along with the play’s four dogs during the plague in 17th century Europe. While based on Shakespeare’s play, the playwright has created a feeling of Waiting for Godot mixed with Come Back Little Sheba and all spoken in iambic pentameter.
