Not Today Satan (Updated Posting)

Independent Production Brooklyn, New York

On a sunny morning in Bed-Stuy, Vincent, a Black Iraq War veteran, shares a joint with his partner Casandra before stepping out into a neighborhood that barely resembles the one they moved into. What starts as a simple coffee run turns into a surreal confrontation with gentrification, white fear, and the ghosts of Vincent’s past. Inside the café, a tense standoff unfolds between a disheveled Black man and a crowd ready to criminalize him on sight. Vincent is pulled into the moment—by race, by history, by obligation—and forced to choose whether to stand by or speak up. Not Today Satan is a sharp, intimate portrait of survival, dissonance, and the quiet ways Black people are asked to perform peace in the middle of someone else’s war.
