Seeking collaborative, excited, talented actors to portray a variety of characters in over 10 shows done in rep. Company states: " IlluminArt Productions, a Staten Island-based non-profit performing arts company, is seeking collaborative actors who can play between the ages of 15-30 for its professional Repertory Touring Company. IlluminArt performs plays in schools and at community organizations throughout Staten Island and the boroughs of NYC social issues, including bullying, violence, immigration, emotions, and substance abuse." These shows cover topics like curiosity and responsibility (K-2nd Grade show called "Asking Alex" featuring our puppet friend, Alex); social/emotional learning (3rd-8th Grade show called "What's Up"); bullying, identity, and accountability (6th-12th grade show called “Life Hacks”); legacy and immigration (an all ages show called "Legacy Talks"); immigration and debate (an immersive show called "Nation of Immigrants"); drugs and alcohol (an all ages show called "Prescription for Addiction”on); intimate partner violence and relationship safety (an all ages show called "Rewriting The Story"); financial literacy (a Theatre for Young Audiences show called “Sami the Squirrel”); and grief and healing (an all ages show called "Sometimes I Just Want Ice Cream"). Please note that some topics, while crucial for the discussions we strive to have, may also be triggering, so please know yourself before submitting. This opportunity is perfect for those who, while being trained, may want to build their resume, are just stepping into the professional theatre world, or have a strong desire to create theatrical experiences that impact the community.
