FOX44 Waco TX is looking for a passionate, creative, and driven **Sports Director** to lead our sports coverage across broadcast, digital, CTV and social platforms. This is an opportunity to become the trusted voice of sports in Central Texas.
We're seeking a dynamic storyteller who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at building community connections, and is eager to produce compelling content that informs, engages, and inspires viewers and audiences.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Produce, report, write, and anchor sports content under deadline for television, digital, and social media platforms.
* Deliver accurate, engaging coverage while maintaining high standards of journalism and production quality.
* Cover breaking sports news and major sporting events.
* Shoot, edit, and manage video content for broadcasts and digital channels.
* Develop story ideas, research topics, and coordinate comprehensive sports coverage.
* Write and publish content for the station website and digital platforms.
* Engage with viewers and audiences through social media and community appearances.
* Maintain video equipment and perform other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
* Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
* Strong knowledge of sports, sports culture and sports-related topics.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent on-air presentation skills.
* Prefer minimum two years of sports /news reporting experience (market-dependent).
* Proficiency with newsroom technology, computer systems, and standard office equipment.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Team-oriented with excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.
* Valid driver's license and good driving record.
* Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
* Pre-employment background screening required.
