The self-appointed protector of the group. Physically imposing and mentally stubborn, he believes survival depends on control — of the space, of the routines, of the other two. He masks fear with anger, distrust, and confrontation. He is especially skeptical of Hudson, partly because he sees Hudson’s weaknesses, and partly because he fears what Hudson’s behavior means for all of them. Oliver believes the illness is real, close, maybe even inside their house — and his suspicion of Hudson grows as the situation worsens.
