She's borderline militant in her approach to survival, but she realizes that her group is young and also needs gentle prodding to go along with her forceful instruction. And unfortunately, she has to break the reality to the person she loves most in order for the group to continue surviving. Emily is the only character scripted as firing a weapon. And in both instances, she must seem like she has fired these weapons hundreds of times already. Emily and the character of Kristen have a not-so-secret relationship and will be in close proximity to one another throughout the script.
