Valerie is a nurse and she took care of Danny when he was in the hospital after the car accident which left him injured. Her parents were both doctors (one specializing in dermatology) and were pushing Valerie to pursue a medical degree. She remained studious, enrolled in a private high school, paid through it, then attended university on a full scholarship to pursue medical science. She knows Danny is miserable and wants him to come with her so he himself can escape his past and the town. Through her relationship with Danny, she is now expecting a child.
