Actors who can sing and/or play guitar are preferred. Thurston is an agnostic beloved country musician who pretends he is Christian and hides his gay relationship with Jaspar to his fans. He struggles with a cocaine addiction causing an overdose and his death at the beginning of the film. Thurston is the best friend of the main character, Louie Dustan, and quite a few flashbacks center around their dynamic. Note: This role requires light intimacy: Thurston kisses Jaspar on the head in one scene, and, in a different one, Thurston and Jaspar get on a bed together and kiss.
