20s-30s. Heather is invited by Hope to visit the horse camp with her videographer. While there, Heather begins noticing fractures beneath Hope’s carefully constructed world. The girls speak in rehearsed language about “becoming” their horses. Their wishes reveal desperate insecurities and longing for transformation. At night, around ritual bonfires, the girls burn paper horses and press their hands into the flames as acts of devotion. The deeper Heather investigates, the clearer it becomes that the camp is not a place of healing, but indoctrination.
On their final night at the farm, Heather and her videographer split up to uncover the truth. Heather explores a hidden chapel and discovers Hope’s mother preserved as the centerpiece of a ritual shrine. Both are captured. Bound to a pyre beside the effigy of Hope’s mother, Heather is forced to witness the culmination of Hope’s delusion.
