Jeff is a traditional patriarch. He believes there are rules that should be followed to have a good life. Happy wife, happy life. Catching a fish a day keeps the doctor away (he probably should go to the doctor). Suck it up - life is hard. Be a man.
His relationship with his wife is more about the physical connection than the emotional one. He doesn't like sharing much. He prefers she spend most of her time cooking or cleaning so he has him-time or father-son time. He works a regular finance job, has a regular life, and wants regular kids. That's where his daughter comes in. He thinks there's something wrong with her - she's far too sensitive.
