A grotesque supernatural entity that manifests first in Jack’s dreams then in waking life, Kafka feeds on the fear that Jack feels as he endures nightmare after nightmare. Kafka’s tall, emaciated frame suggests an insatiable hunger that won’t stop until his victim’s soul is drained completely. Keeping perfectly still so as to not stir his sleeping prey, Kafka’s appearances are like vignettes, hiding himself in the dark corners of the room or in Jack’s mind. Beside his tall, thin frame, Kafka’s most distinct features are a set of wide, bloodshot eyes and a demented, smiling maw.
