Ethan’s warm-hearted, endlessly supportive mother who loves nothing more than seeing her son happy. When Ethan starts dating Valerie, Cindy is thrilled and eagerly waits to meet the mysterious young woman—but every attempt falls through due to increasingly ridiculous vampire-related excuses. As weeks turn into months, Cindy jokingly (and then half-seriously) begins to suspect Valerie doesn’t exist at all, wondering if Ethan is secretly dating an AI girlfriend he’s too embarrassed to admit to. Her unwavering kindness and increasingly absurd theories become a recurring source of comedy throughout the film.
