David’s ex-girlfriend and an important supporting character in the story. Although she is not heavily present in the early scenes, her being at the same party as David immediately triggers Jenae’s insecurity and becomes a major source of tension throughout the film.
Stephanie represents the person Jenae compares herself to and feels threatened by, even when there is no clear evidence that anything is happening between Stephanie and David. Jenae’s darker thoughts repeatedly focus on Stephanie being “prettier” or “better,” which helps drive the psychological spiral at the center of the story.
