The man is an archetype inspired by classic film noir characters like Al Roberts in "Detour" or Mike Hammer in "Kiss Me Deadly". He gave up his life as a killer for hire when his lover ended up dead because of his involvements. He tries to live a normal life and starts working at a factory living an unsatisfying life. He is a bit rough and although he wouldn't cry in front of you, you can sense his vulnerability when he speaks.
