This position requires a detailed knowledge of welding codes specifications and procedures. Key Deliverables • Facilitate projects including those requiring support of weld process changes and justification of capital equipment expenditures. • Oversee a team of welders • Develop welding documentation (WPS’s and PQR’s) • Serve as a project leader • Ability to teach welding school • Review current processes and determination of process improvements • Evaluate emerging technology in the industry. Key Activities & Responsibilities • Learn and stay current on welding codes (AWS and ASME) • Participate in the development welder training • May provide task-oriented direction to technicians • Provide technical support if needed, for welder performance testing • Assisting with departmental business planning • Acting as a technical resource to other technicians, including mentoring and direction • Participate in design reviews to aid the Engineering Groups develop design for manufacturability • Conduct cost assessment and reviews for new equipment and for cost savings projects • Establish baseline cost analysis of production processes for improvement initiatives • Compile data, create spreadsheets, and analyze data related to welding process efficiencies and labor improvements • Create reports and presentations as a result of analysis of current process vs. new process • Work with production supervisors and personnel to assess current welding/manufacturing issues To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are: • Associates degree in Welding Technology with a minimum of 0-2 years of experience or 15 years welding related work • Experience with code work (AWS) required (ASME, API 1104 preferred) • Typically, works with minimal direct supervision, conferring with superiors as needed.
